Formed in 2007, Kaligula initially performed alternative rock music in the style of "Seattle Sound" aka grunge, which consisted of five members. Then the band's formation underwent an overhaul and decided to shift the genre 360 degrees to death metal in early 2010. However, a decade ago, since steadily pursuing death metal, Kaligula did not want to linger on the gas so that he managed to release his first full length album at the end of 2010 with the title Literatur Kematian which became the kickstart for Kaligula to hit the underground rock music scene. In early 2012 Kaligula conducted several tours outside his hometown, Jimbaran, Bali. One of them was performing at the Surakarta Death Fest and not long after that they had experienced a vacuum period and returned again in 2017 with the presence of two new personnel and issued a single promo titled The Devil Orientation and had a mini tour in several cities, namely Tangerang, Bogor. and Bandung. Kaligula recently released her new album, Doctrination of Atisamdha through Jakarta-based death metal special record label, Brutal Mind, on November 10, 2020. The recording process for the Doctrination of Atisamdha album was delayed due to time constraints due to the busyness of each personnel, while Kaligula also has a fairly busy concert schedule. In addition, their collaboration with Balinese traditional music artist, Kalingga Art is also delayed. They have to rack their brains in this project, because according to them they combine several Balinese cultural instruments, in this case the Karawitan art is considered quite difficult in synchronizing the tones of the two different musical genres and the guitar riffs that must be in harmony with the Karawitan art.
