Bandung’s black/death/post-metal force delivers a ritualistic journey into cosmic emptiness

Bandung, Indonesia – June 21, 2025
Emerging once again from the darkened veil of sonic intensity, Bandung-based black/death/post-metal band THEIST returns with a brand-new single, “Litani : Nihil”, released on June 21, 2025. A haunting blend of ambient despair and crushing metal fury, this single serves as an existential litany — a prayer whispered into the vast, silent void.

Crafted with deliberate restraint, “Litani : Nihil” channels the slow, suffocating march of time collapsing into nothingness. It melds the atmosphere of post-metal with the density of death metal and the bleakness of black metal, conjuring a soundscape that is both oppressive and transcendent. Through lyrics like "the sky burns in emptiness" and "the chime of time sinks deeper," THEIST paints a sonic canvas of cosmic ruin and spiritual disillusionment.

“We intentionally made this piece structurally simple, allowing each note to resonate like a mantra. It’s about letting the void speak back,” says guitarist and producer M. Fauzi.


Formed in 2014 by Fauzi (ex-Restrain), THEIST has long been known for their philosophical depth and atmospheric sound. With members Erwin Gumilar (vocals), Eko Tristanto (bass), and Randi Kurniawan (drums), the band returned from a decade-long slumber in 2024 with the mini-album Post-God Apocalypse, released via Disaster Records — a monumental turning point in their discography.

"Litani : Nihil" marks the next chapter in THEIST’s exploration of spiritual chaos, cosmic decay, and the desperate search for meaning in a post-divine world.
