Bengkulu, October 27, 2025 — One-man slamming brutal death metal force KAREK returns with a devastating new EP titled “Playground Destruction.” Following his previous singles Beginning For Damage and Last Spesies, KAREK pushes deeper into the psychological aftermath of bullying—turning rage, trauma, and emotional decay into raw sonic violence.
Born from everyday anxieties and the unseen wounds people carry, Playground Destruction confronts how seemingly small acts—words, mockery, mistreatment—can inflict long-lasting damage.
“Sometimes we forget that our words or actions can deeply hurt someone for a very long time, causing damage far worse than what we see on the surface,” says ilhamkarek, the sole creator behind KAREK, responsible for lyrics, vocals, guitars, and drums.
For this release, ilhamkarek collaborated with Kevin Aroungand and Notsleep. Despite delays dating back to 2023, the EP’s production moved quickly once resumed in late August 2025.
“From idea to arrangement, it took only about two months. The lyrics had been prepared long before. The recording, mixing, and mastering process went smoothly because we share the same frequency,” ilhamkarek explains.
Musically, Playground Destruction delivers the signature slamming brutal death metal DNA KAREK is known for—infused with hints of hardcore, unhinged slamming brutality, and relentless heaviness. The EP boldly showcases KAREK's aggressive, chaotic spirit while maintaining the raw energy central to the project since its inception.
“The message is simple: everyone sees us from different angles, so just keep moving—and be a fearless provocateur who dares to create,” adds ilhamkarek.
Released digitally on October 27, 2025, Playground Destruction marks KAREK’s first EP, featuring six tracks that capture a storm of madness, rebellion, and emotional turmoil forged over the past months.
