#BreakingNews - HUMMUS Unleashes “INTIFADAH,” a Defiant Afrobeat Statement for Palestine
Bandung, Indonesia – December 2025 — Bandung-based Afrobeat collective Hummus officially steps into a new chapter with the release of their debut full-length album “INTIFADAH,” a record fueled by resistance, solidarity, and urgent humanitarian consciousness.
Drawing inspiration from the historical meaning of intifadah—a collective uprising against oppression—the album stands as Hummus’ musical response to the ongoing occupation of Palestinian land. Rather than offering escapism, “INTIFADAH” confronts listeners with the harsh realities of a world in crisis, positioning music as a form of protest and remembrance.
The album features eight tracks infused with Middle Eastern textures, blending Afrobeat rhythms with trumpet passages, layered percussion, and Arabic poetic recitations. This sonic direction pushes Hummus beyond traditional Afrobeat, carving a unique space within Indonesia’s alternative and underground music landscape.
Consisting of four new compositions and four reimagined earlier songs, INTIFADAH also marks a transformation in Hummus’ lineup. The expanded formation introduces new sonic depth through Shabira’s vocals and keyboard work, Zacky’s Arabic chants, and Ande’s additional guitar lines, adding fresh dynamics to the band’s long-established core.
One of the album’s highlights, “Panjatkanlah Doa,” features a special collaboration with Sigit Pramudita (Tigapagi), reinforcing the album’s spiritual and contemplative dimension amid its strong political stance.
Written throughout 2024 and produced independently, INTIFADAH reflects the long-term vision of Bram, Hummus’ founding guitarist, alongside original members Andzar (drums) and Kiki (bass). The album is not positioned as an endpoint, but as the first declaration of Hummus’ ongoing commitment to using music as a tool for resistance.
More than a debut, “INTIFADAH” arrives as a call to conscience—amplifying voices that refuse to be silenced.
“We are not free until Palestine is free.”
INTIFADAH is available on Bandcamp and all major digital streaming platforms starting December 9, 2025.
