Indonesian extreme metal act ROTTENPIG returns with a powerful new statement through their latest single, “Hong Wilaheng Sekareng Bawono Langgeng,” officially released on December 18, 2025, as part of the celebration of National Gamelan Day (December 15).

Forged through a long journey of reflection and commitment to cultural resistance, this release marks a bold continuation of ROTTENPIG’s mission to preserve and reinterpret Indonesian heritage through extreme music. The single fuses the raw aggression of extreme metal with the intricate, spiritual textures of Javanese gamelan, creating a sound that feels both ancient and brutally modern—ready to resonate with metal listeners worldwide.

“Hong Wilaheng Sekareng Bawono Langgeng” stands as the culmination of ROTTENPIG’s ongoing creative experiments with gamelan music. Beyond aesthetics, the band’s involvement is deeply rooted: its members are actively engaged in karawitan (traditional Javanese gamelan performance) and various cultural activities, seeing this work as a concrete act of cultural preservation rather than mere musical ornamentation.

Lyrically and thematically, the song reflects urban life through a spiritual lens—delivering a message of cultural awareness, gratitude to nature, and respect for the universe. The harmonious collision between traditional gamelan arrangements and extreme metal structures invites listeners into an intense, immersive sonic experience.

Adding further depth to the track, the single features a special guest vocal appearance by Angger, vocalist of Holiday With Masha, bringing an additional emotional and dynamic layer to the composition.

ROTTENPIG emerged from the underground scene of Purworejo, formed in December 2021 within the D.E.C Purworejo Gogrog community. The current lineup consists of:

With “Hong Wilaheng Sekareng Bawono Langgeng,” ROTTENPIG once again proves that extreme metal can be a vessel for tradition, resistance, and reverence—without losing its ferocity.
