Jakarta-based blackened doom project Karam has officially resurfaced with their haunting maxi-single “Memoar,” marking a long-awaited continuation of a project that first took shape in mid-2022 before being put on hold due to difficult circumstances.

With “Memoar,” Karam embrace a sonic identity steeped in darkness and emotional decay—channeling the oppressive gloom of Black Sabbath, the slow, crushing weight of Saint Vitus, and the existential dread reminiscent of Mgła and Dystopia.

The release paints a grim and unflinching portrait of despair—opening with a slow, brooding atmosphere before descending into controlled chaos. Each passage feels like a descent deeper into emotional void, echoing a worldview steeped in pessimism and defeat. Lyrically, “Memoar” offers no solace; instead, it traps listeners in an unrelenting cycle of anguish, where hope is scarce and suffering is absolute.

Through this maxi-single, Karam carve out a suffocating soundscape of sorrow and existential dread, cementing their presence within Indonesia’s underground extreme music scene.
