East Frisian black metal entity Harlinger has officially released its second full-length album, “Teufelsmühle”, on April 4, 2026, through Black Flame Alliance. Available in digital format and CD digipack, the album delivers a 37-minute descent into psychological darkness and existential transformation.
Rooted in the Sorbian Krabat myth, “Teufelsmühle” is presented as an autobiographically charged concept album, exploring themes of inner conflict, self-alienation, longing, and the painful emergence of a truer self. The “mill” stands as a central symbol—both a refuge and a consuming force that strips away one’s inner essence.
As the solo project of musician J.B., Harlinger continues to expand its artistic universe beyond conventional black metal boundaries, merging atmospheric intensity, melodic depth, and narrative-driven composition. Following the debut “Kinderschreck”, this new album pushes further into a realm of emotional extremity and symbolic storytelling.

From the sample of “Nackt und frierend in der Kälte”, Harlinger leans heavily into a cold, immersive atmosphere—where sharp, cutting riffs meet melancholic melodic layers. The production retains a raw edge, yet it’s controlled enough to let the emotional weight breathe. There’s a constant tension between aggression and introspection, giving the track a haunting sense of isolation.
What stands out is the narrative feel: the music doesn’t just move forward—it pulls you deeper, like being trapped inside the very “mill” the album describes. The pacing feels deliberate, almost hypnotic, reinforcing themes of inner struggle and gradual transformation.
